Viewing and claiming available shifts in Sona
Browsing shifts
You can browse available shifts via the Open Shifts tab in the Sona app, just click the Open Shifts tab at the bottom of the screen.
You'll be able to browse all shifts that are available to you
Filtering Shifts
You can tailor your view of available shifts and use filters to hide any that you can't or don't want to work.
Hit the filter button in the top right hand corner
• Filtering by time - you can filter by the earliest and latest start and end time of shifts, for example: if you would only like to work shifts that start between 7am and 9am and finish between 3pm and 4pm, you would select:
• Start time: Earliest - 7am, Latest - 9am
• End time: Earliest - 3pm, Latest - 4pm
• Filtering by location - you can adjust the travel distance slider to suit how far you're happy to travel for shifts, this is based on the postcode we were given by your employer for you (if you need to update your postcode - contact your manager)
• Filtering by type of shift - these are the shift types created by your employer, some are different due to job role, some due to training or special requirements
• Filtering by shift location - you can select any of your employer's locations that you would like to view in the shifts list
You can change these filters at any time - just head back to the filters button and click "clear" in the bottom right hand corner to start again or view the full list of available shifts, without any filters
What if there are shifts that I cannot see?
There are several reasons why you may not be able to see the same shifts as some other colleagues, who receives which shifts is determined by your employer.
Employers look at:
• Job role
• Training requirements/training completed by you
• If you work primarily in that location
You may also not be able to see certain shifts if you already have a clashing shift booked in
Claiming an Open Shift
To claim an open shift, you just need to click on the shift you're interested in working (we'd recommend double checking the times and description to make sure you can definitely work it!) and click claim in the top right hand corner.
The shift is then confirmed and yours, unless you cancel it!
